HOW TO PLAY

Basics of Rummy

  • Each game has 2 to 6 players based on the variant.
  • The basics of each variant remain the same.
  • Each player will be dealt 13 cards, and the remaining cards will be kept in the draw pile upside down.
  • Wildcard joker will be drawn before the rounds begin, and the toss helps decide who starts first.
  • Every player draws one card each round and disposes of one.
  • Players can draw cards from the dispose pile or from the draw pile according to their needs.
  • One that has formed one pure set and has formed impure or more pure sets with the remaining cards can declare first.
  • If the declaration is valid, the winner will be announced.
  • First to declare will be the winner, and the remaining player's points will be calculated based on the cards that are not formed into a set.
  • If the remaining players did not form a pure set, then every card in hand will be calculated while calculating points.
  • Points Rummy: Winning Cash = (Sum of all points of opponents) X (Rupee value of the point) - (CARDSPOT FEE).
  • Pool Rummy: Winnings = (Entry Fee) X (Number of Players) - (CARDSPOT FEE).
  • Deals Rummy: Winnings = Sum of points of all opponents assuming each chip is equal to one point.

Card Sequence in Rummy

Pure Sequence

A set consisting of three or more consecutive cards from the same suit. You cannot add a printed or wild joker to a pure sequence.

Example of Pure sequence

5♣ 6♣ 7♣is a pure sequence consisting of four Club cards arranged consecutively.
J♥ Q♥ K♥ - another pure sequence consisting of 3 hearts cards arranged consecutively.

Impure Sequence

A pure sequence of cards is three or more cards of the same suit and at least one joker.

Example of Impure Sequence

10♥ J♥ Q♥ PJ - Here, a printed Joker replaces King of Hearts, making it impure.
A♦ 2♦ Q♠ 4♦ - Here, a wild Joker replaces three of Diamonds, making it impure.

This impure sequence contains a wild Joker in the game, the Q♠, which was used to replace the 3 in the sequence.
Examples of valid sets

9♥ 9♠ 9♣ 9♦ -The set consists of the same value cards from different suits.
7♦ 7♣ 7♠ PJ - This set uses Printed Joker to replace 7♥, making it a valid set.
3♠ 3♣ J♥ - This set is formed using 3s of different suits and J♥ as a wild Joker.

Please Note: There cannot be two cards with the same value and suit in one deck of cards for games with more than two players.

Examples of invalid sets

7♥ 7♥ 7♦ - The set contains two 7s of the same suit, so it is invalid.
10♠ 10♥ 10♦ 10♠ 5♥ - Even with 5 of hearts as a wild joker, this set is invalid because of two 10♠ .

TIPS TO WIN

As soon as you receive the cards, form a pure sequence. Melds need to be pure before they can be declared.
You should always keep the middle cards to yourself; they might prove useful in some way to finish your set.
Don't draw from the discard pile, as your opponent may identify your card formation and take the card you need.
You can substitute Ace, Jack, Queen and King with Wild Jokers or Joker cards. Losing a game lowers your points.

TRICKS TO PLAY

Always check all your cards before making a declaration. You'll lose full points if your declaration doesn't work.
It is best to drop a game at the start since you will receive fewer points at the beginning and more at the end.
Have more jokers in the game. Once you complete the pure sequence, you should complete other sets.
When you receive the wrong set of cards, ensure to change them quickly to make the correct sequence/set.
